Energy audits find ways to help organizations save money. As
energy costs rise, the benefits of improving energy efficiency
are apparent. But to make those gains, organizations almost
always have to purchase services or equipment that makes the
energy
savings possible.
How does an organization pay for such upgrades? A variety
of financing options are available. One of the most popular
ways to pay for the work is directly from the energy savings
realized by the upgrade.
Take, for example, a school. This school needs to upgrade
its lights to new, high-output florescent models. But the new
lamps cost $1000. By doing an energy audit, the school learns
that installing the new lights will net a $250 decrease in
annual energy costs. A simple payback calculation determines
that the lights will pay for themselves within
four years.
In the case above, E2P2 Solutions would pay for the lamps
upfront, and then the school would repay the cost from the
savings it realizes.
Other financing options are available, however. Please see
